A Labor of Love Wedding

We shared with you on our last post (here) the venue and the months of preparation leading up to my daughters incredible Wedding day.

As promised, today I will be sharing just a few of the many personalized, custom built & thrift store items we used to make the Ceremony extra special.

A little reclaimed wood for him and a little glam for her Hope you're inspired!

THE CEREMONY

The ceremony decor was kept simple. We consciously made an effort to blend in with the outdoor surroundings thus keeping the focus on the star of the day, the beautiful bride.

After the ceremony, 90% of the items were then taken to the reception to help decorate the massive reception space. Definitely not the easiest task, but money saving for sure!

The challenge... waiting for all the guests to leave before breaking down everything and then getting it all to the reception before the guests arrived.

The large custom planter boxes were made with reclaimed wood and filled with large blooming hydrangeas, the hydrangeas have since been planted outside to enjoy and I'm still looking for the perfect spot for the planters. We found out that late August is not the ideal time of the year to find blooming Hydrangeas. Thankfully, after explaining our desperation to a local nursery, they were gracious enough to bring out the most gorgeous hydrangeas that had been put aside for a contractor. Never hurts to ask!

A rustic vignette greeted the guests and became a focal point instead of the not so pretty hotel room balconies. An inexpensive chicken wire screen was made and was the back drop for a few custom & thrift store items. A painted antique kitchen table, lace table cloth, welcome sign, programs, apple barrel with a few bundles of baby's breath filled in the space perfectly. And... super inexpensive too!

I love everything about this vignette!

I had been unsure on what to do with this very old sofa table that I had purchased sometime ago. To paint or not to paint? Once it became clear that it would be perfect for the ceremony, paint we did. A few thrift store finds, wood hearts custom made from reclaimed wood & a sign made out of an old cabinet door brought in just enough of that Rustic feel.

An old antique buffet was the perfect solution for the altar. But what really took it over the top was the draping of the fresh eucalyptus and baby's breath. Simple tin pitchers and a burlap wrapped olive tree was part of the vows and ceremony.

I wasn't to sure that the olive tree was going to make it to the ceremony. I had purchased it online a month prior and watched daily as the leaves fell off. Thankfully it survived.

And, no wedding would be complete without flowers, lots and lots of flowers! Lilypots of Lake Geneva definitely exceeded our expectations! Not only are they extremely talented but also super easy to work with. Who knew thrift store urns & vases could look so incredible.

They were spot on, creating the vintage romantic look that the bride had requested.

And lastly, don't forget the sentimental things

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue

Grandmas baby dress, tucked away in a trunk for the past 80 years was repurposed into a handkerchief keepsake.

And Amber's great-great grandmothers letter opener garnished her bridal bouquet.

***If adding heirlooms to your bouquet, please make sure to have someone responsible for grabbing it at the end of the night! We unfortunately learned a hard lesson with my oldest daughters missing wedding bouquet.

All the work that went into the wedding was definitely a labor of love. But with a little vision and teamwork you too can surprise yourself and your guests with the Wedding of your dreams.
